I don't know whether Stabenow is tough enough to govern the state. She hasn't exactly been a leader in the Senate. I suspect name recognition was a factor in the poll.
Mike Cox is a slimy bastard. He's smooth and media-savvy, which means he looks a lot better than he is. And the Democrats will be too "nice" to bring up the moral failings that would have ruined him with Republican "family values" voters if they weren't such hypocrites.
